A well-known outdoor staircase in South Surrey will soon be temporarily closed for maintenance and upgrades.
According to the City of Surrey, Christopherson Steps, located at the end of 24 Avenue and Christopherson Road near the Crescent Beach area, will be closed from October 27 to December 6 to allow for repair work.
The staircase connects to both Crescent Beach and the more natural Crescent Rock Beach, offering scenic ocean views and a popular walking route for locals.
During the closure, the city is recommending residents use 1001 Steps, a nearby staircase at 12590 15A Avenue, which has recently undergone its own set of upgrades.
Local resident Don Pitcairn noted on social media that a previous round of repairs at Christopherson Steps, initially scheduled for five days in August, ended up lasting 19 days.
Once the latest repairs are completed, the city expects the staircase to reopen safely for public use ahead of the winter season.
