The B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) has suspended a Surrey licensed practical nurse, citing multiple “practice issues” over a year-long period.
According to a public notice released on Oct. 6, Qingjun (Jerry) Sheng failed to complete required COVID-19 screening before reporting to work, showed a pattern of medication-administration and record-keeping errors, and did not report a change of employment — breaching an earlier agreement with the college.
“Medication administration and documentation are foundational skills critical to public safety,” the BCCNM said, adding that compliance with professional undertakings is essential for maintaining public trust.
Sheng voluntarily accepted the disciplinary terms, which include a two-week suspension, followed by restricted practice conditions, mandatory remedial education, and on-site supervision for a set period.
The college stated the measures aim to “support safe, competent, and ethical nursing practice” and reinforce accountability standards among all registrants.
