Surrey’s Kadyn Armitage named to Baseball Canada’s junior national team
A young Surrey baseball player is stepping onto the national stage.
Kadyn Armitage, a standout shortstop and former White Rock Tritons player, has been named to Baseball Canada’s Junior National Team for the fall instructional league in the Dominican Republic.
The 28-player roster features the top U18 baseball prospects in Canada, who will compete against Major League Baseball (MLB) academy teams from October 19 to 29.
This is Armitage’s first national selection, marking a major milestone toward representing Canada at the World Baseball Softball Confederation U18 Baseball World Cup.
“This is a dream come true,” Armitage said. “Every young player in Canada wants to wear the maple leaf, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn from the coaches and compete against international talent.”
Earlier this year, Armitage helped Team BC capture gold at the 2025 Canada Summer Games, contributing key at-bats during the championship run. Known for his smooth glove, quick bat, and mature approach at the plate, he has drawn attention from college recruiters and scouts across the country.
The fall instructional league serves as an important evaluation period for Baseball Canada’s high-performance program, giving players the chance to compete against professional talent from MLB clubs such as the Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, and New York Mets.
Currently in Grade 11, Armitage joins a select group of players who have launched professional and international careers from this program — including Josh Naylor, Tyler O’Neill, and Bo Naylor.
