Paranormal Showcase Returns to Surrey’s Historic Stewart Farm
Cue the X-Files theme — Surrey’s Historic Stewart Farm is about to get a ghostly visit.
The Vancouver Paranormal Society (VPS) will host its annual paranormal showcase at the farm on Friday, Oct. 25, inviting both believers and skeptics to experience an evening of eerie evidence and historical storytelling.
This marks the 11th year of the showcase, which has become one of the society’s most popular events. Tickets for this year’s single-night presentation have already sold out, but a waitlist is available for guests aged 19 and over.
Kelly Claire Berge, president of the VPS, says the farm holds a special place in her paranormal journey. During her first visit, she captured a chilling electronic voice phenomenon (EVP) — believed to be the voice of John Stewart, the farm’s original Scottish owner, asking, “Care to be murdered?”
“It was one of those moments you never forget,” said Berge. “Given John Stewart’s Scottish heritage, the voice was especially intriguing.”
At the showcase, the team will present recordings, photos, and investigation findings gathered from their spring and summer visits. Attendees will also get to ask questions, share stories, and handle real investigative equipment.
Berge says events like these help connect people to B.C.’s past while keeping heritage sites alive.
“We love partnering with historical societies like Historic Stewart Farm,” she said. “It’s a great way to raise awareness for places that depend on community support to preserve their stories.”
The Vancouver Paranormal Society, made up entirely of volunteers, focuses on research, education, and preserving the human stories behind every haunting.
“We don’t want B.C.’s historic communities to be lost in time,” Berge added.
