Surrey opens B.C.’s largest Foundry hub, offering free mental, physical, and social care for youth 12–24, all under one roof in Whalley.
Surrey’s Largest Youth Health Hub Opens Doors
A new era for youth health services in Surrey is just around the corner. Foundry Surrey, a state-of-the-art wellness hub, is set to officially open in Whalley, providing free, same-day support for youth aged 12 to 24 and their families. From mental health care to social services, the facility promises a safe and inclusive space for young people seeking help.
Transforming City Parkway
Located at 10280 City Parkway, the hub occupies the former A&B Sound and The Hockey Shop retail space, conveniently across from Surrey Central SkyTrain station. Extensive renovations have transformed the site into a three-floor center, with medical offices on the lower level, social services on the main floor, and substance-use support plus Indigenous-focused spaces on the top floor.
“This is ideal for Surrey,” said Jacquie Robertson, manager of youth services in Surrey North for Pacific Community Resources Society (PCRS), the lead agency operating Foundry Surrey. “Nothing like this exists in the city at this scale, combining multiple services under one roof.”
Services Designed for Youth Needs
Foundry Surrey offers mental health and substance-use care, primary healthcare, peer support, and social services—all free, confidential, and without referrals. Staff training began in late September, with services moving in shortly after. The hub targets mid-level risk youth who often fall through the cracks, addressing mental health concerns, eating disorders, gender dysphoria, and other challenges.
“High-risk kids are already being supported, but we need to reach those who are struggling silently,” Robertson explained. “This hub is designed to do just that.”
Gala Event to Celebrate and Support
The grand opening aligns with a gala fundraiser on November 7, hosted at the Civic Hotel. “An Evening With Friends” invites the community to celebrate while supporting the facility’s mission. Tickets are available for $214, with platinum sponsorships valued at $15,000.
Jen Temple, co-organizer of the event, highlighted the impact of such a hub. “Having a safe place for kids to talk and be understood could be a real game-changer,” she said.
A Vision Years in the Making
Foundry Surrey represents nearly five years of planning and a $9.3 million capital investment, with an additional $1.3 million still needed. Robertson emphasized the importance of accessibility, flexibility, and non-judgmental care, aiming to welcome the first youth by mid-October.
“Once they start talking to someone here, other challenges can be addressed immediately,” Robertson said. “Skilled youth workers and counselors are ready to step in and provide support when it’s needed most.”
