Surrey Fire Service crews responded to a house fire in the Grandview Heights area of South Surrey just after 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6.
Located in the 1900-block of 176 Street, the home was an older two-storey residence. Neighbours reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the structure as firefighters arrived on scene.
Firefighters mounted an interior attack to control the blaze while ensuring nearby homes were protected. To allow safe operations, city crews closed 176 Street in both directions during the firefighting effort.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and fire officials say it may take time to determine what triggered it.
