Surrey-born Lisa Brokop returns Nov. 24 for a “Hometown Hall of Fame” concert at Shannon Hall, celebrating her Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame induction.
Lisa Brokop’s Homecoming Concert Set for November in Surrey
Celebrating a Country Music Milestone
Surrey-born country singer and songwriter Lisa Brokop will headline a special “Hometown Hall of Fame” concert on November 24 at Shannon Hall in Cloverdale. The show marks her Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame induction earlier this fall and celebrates over four decades of music rooted in her hometown.
A Career That Comes Full Circle
Now living in Nashville, Brokop says the concert will be both nostalgic and celebratory. “We’re gonna pull out all the old hits,” she said with a laugh. “It’s gonna require some rehearsal for me, for sure, but it’ll be fun—we’ll talk about old times and reminisce.”
Her career began in Surrey at age seven, performing with her family before launching a solo career as a teenager. In 1990, at 17, her debut single “Daddy, Sing to Me” entered the Canadian charts. She went on to sign with Capitol and Sony/Columbia Records, earning Gold-certified albums and a nomination from the Academy of Country Music.
A Night to Honour Local Roots
Presented by the City of Surrey and the Cloverdale Rodeo & Country Fair, the intimate 300-seat concert aims to honour Brokop’s achievements while reconnecting her with the community where it all began. The event highlights Surrey’s role in nurturing Canadian country talent and will feature stories, live performances, and a look back at Brokop’s chart-topping years.
Why This Celebration Matters
Brokop’s induction into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in Kelowna this September recognizes her influence on the nation’s country sound. CCMA President Amy Jeninga called her “a voice that has helped shape Canadian country music for generations.”
Brokop herself reflected with humour: “At first I thought, what an honour! Then I wondered, does this mean my days are numbered? But I don’t feel that way at all—there’s still a lot going on in my world, maybe more than ever.”
How to Experience the Show
Tickets for the November 24 concert are available through showpass.com/lisa-brokop. Early-bird pricing runs until October 31, at $52.95 per ticket. A VIP Group Package of eight tickets is available for $780.
Opening the night will be Chase Varnes, a 14-year-old singer-songwriter from Vancouver Island whose debut single, “Where the Wild Runs Free,” releases in November. Known from America’s Got Talent, Varnes blends country warmth with a modern pop touch.
Community Pride and Local Support
Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke called Brokop “a source of pride for our city,” adding that her story “will inspire the next generation of country artists.”
Kathy Sheppard, president of the Cloverdale Rodeo, echoed that sentiment: “Lisa’s induction is a milestone that deserves to be celebrated right here in her hometown. We’re excited to host an event that connects the community through music and honours our local roots.”
For Brokop, the return to Cloverdale isn’t just a concert—it’s a homecoming. “I haven’t been back in a while,” she said. “I’m really happy about the show because it brings me home—and I’ll even have a few days to visit my parents. It’s going to be special.”
