Gunfire hits two Ustaad G76 restaurant locations in Surrey within days. Police investigate possible links as community calls for safety.
Another Shooting Shakes Surrey’s Indian Restaurant Scene
Surrey’s culinary community is reeling after another shooting targeted a second location of the popular Indian restaurant chain, Ustaad G76. This latest gunfire incident unfolded at the restaurant’s Newton branch, only days after its South Surrey location came under attack.
Gunshots Rattle Newton Location
Police were called to the 13000-block of 76 Avenue in Newton on Sunday, where bullet holes were spotted in the restaurant’s windows. Photos and videos captured on scene show visible damage, leaving locals stunned that a second location was struck so soon.
The Surrey Police Service (SPS) confirmed that officers arrived quickly and secured the area. Fortunately, the restaurant was closed, and no injuries were reported.
Another Incident Hours Earlier in South Surrey
The Newton shooting followed an overnight attack just hours earlier at the Ustaad G76 location near 156 Street and King George Boulevard in South Surrey.
Police said the shots were fired around 2:20 a.m. on Monday, causing damage to the building’s exterior. Like the Newton case, no one was inside at the time.
Third Attack in Less Than Two Weeks
This isn’t the first time the restaurant chain has been targeted. On September 27, another Ustaad G76 restaurant in Maple Ridge was hit by gunfire during the early morning hours. No injuries were reported in that incident either, but the string of shootings has many wondering if there’s a connection.
Police Investigating Possible Links
According to SPS Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton, investigators are still determining whether the South Surrey shooting is tied to extortion-related cases seen across the city. For now, it’s too early to confirm any link or to say whether the extortion task force will take over the investigation.
Call for Witnesses and Footage
Authorities are urging anyone with information — or those who were near 2100 King George Boulevard between 2 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. — to come forward.
If you saw anything suspicious or have CCTV or dashcam footage, you’re asked to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502, quoting file number 25-85681 (SP).
Anonymous tips can also be shared through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or solvecrime.ca.

A Community on Edge
As investigations continue, residents and restaurant owners across Surrey are left anxious and hoping for answers. For now, what’s clear is that this wave of violence has shaken a community known for its vibrant food scene and close-knit businesses.
