New Outdoor Skating Rink Coming to Surrey City Hall This Winter
Surrey’s Civic Plaza is set to sparkle this winter with a brand-new 4,000-square-foot outdoor skating rink, launching just in time for the holiday season.
The rink, announced by Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke, will debut as part of a 12-week pilot project during the City’s Tree Lighting Festival on November 22–23.
According to the City, the rink aims to transform the Civic Plaza into a lively winter gathering spot where residents can skate, celebrate, and support local businesses. The initiative is part of Surrey’s plan to create a more vibrant and inviting City Centre that draws people together for fun and recreation.
“We promised to bring more life and joy to Surrey’s City Centre — and we’re delivering,” said Mayor Locke. “This rink will create a space for families and friends to celebrate the season while boosting the downtown economy.”
The rink will be open throughout the winter season, offering free access to visitors and residents. It marks another step in Surrey’s efforts to turn the Civic Plaza into a community hub filled with entertainment, food, and cultural activity.
