A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a TransLink bus near the intersection of Highway 10 and King George Boulevard in Surrey early Saturday morning. The incident occurred just after 5 a.m. on Oct. 4, according to the Surrey Police Service.
Victim taken to hospital
B.C. Emergency Health Services transported the victim to hospital shortly after the collision. As of Sunday morning, Oct. 5, there were no updates on the individual’s condition. Authorities described the injuries as critical.
Bus driver co-operating with police
Police say the bus involved in the incident was out of service at the time. The driver remained at the scene and is fully co-operating with investigators, Sgt. Tige Pollock of Surrey Police confirmed Sunday.
Cause of collision under investigation
Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the crash. Early indications suggest no clear contributing factors, though police are continuing to review evidence and interview witnesses.
