Comedian Kapil Sharma is once again in the spotlight, this time over a serious security scare. The Mumbai Crime Branch arrested Dilip Choudhary for allegedly threatening Sharma and demanding Rs 1 crore through email. The accused claimed to be part of the Goldy Brar–Rohit Godara gang, though police are investigating whether those links are genuine or fabricated to intimidate the actor-comedian.
This comes just weeks after Sharma’s overseas venture, Kap’s Café in Surrey, was targeted in a gunfire attack on August 28. Multiple bullets shattered the café’s windows. Soon after, Bishnoi gang member Goldy Dhillon, wanted in India for extortion and murder cases, claimed responsibility on social media. Dhillon is believed to be hiding in Germany.
The incident followed earlier threats allegedly linked to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, prompting Mumbai Police to increase Sharma’s security with 24/7 protection.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has also warned Sharma over his use of the word “Bombay” instead of “Mumbai” on his show.
Despite the turbulence, Sharma remains resilient. His wit and charm on The Great Indian Kapil Show continue to win over audiences, ensuring his place as one of India’s most beloved entertainers.
