Live Music Brings Surrey Together

Surrey is buzzing with live music this fall. On Sept. 27, the Surrey Arts Centre hosts Coast to Coast, an 80s rock fundraiser featuring Scorpions, UFO, and MSG, with all proceeds supporting the Surrey Food Bank. That same evening, Bell Performing Arts Centre welcomes beloved Filipino artists Jeffrey and Charlotte for a sold-out performance.

Later in the week, classical and world music lovers can experience Tabla Legacy on Sept. 29, honoring Pandit Anindo Chatterjee and the late Ustad Zakir Hussain. On Oct. 3, catch Dheera Gill’s vibrant Punjabi performance or sing along with Fleetwood Magic, bringing Fleetwood Mac classics back to life. The youngest talents take the stage on Oct. 5 for Superstar Singer 3, a first-time Canadian appearance for India’s top three contest winners.

These events are more than just concerts—they’re a way for the community to come together, celebrate culture, and support local causes.

Theatre and Stage Spark Laughter and Wonder

From hilarious mishaps to heartwarming stories, Surrey’s theatres have something for everyone. They Came From Mars… runs Sept. 26-28, delivering side-splitting comedy at the Surrey Arts Centre. Families can enjoy the daring acrobatics of Afrique en Cirque on Oct. 5, a show full of energy and drumming rhythms.

For a deeper story, the Arts Club Theatre Company presents You Used to Call Me Marie… from Oct. 15-25, following the intertwined tales of the Métis nation. These performances not only entertain but also connect audiences to history, heritage, and community storytelling.

Taste, Share, and Celebrate Community

Food and culture combine in Surrey this fall. M&M Food Market hosts a charity BBQ on Sept. 27, supporting Moving Forward Family Services. Every Saturday, the Surrey Urban Farmers’ Market brings fresh local food, handmade art, and live music to Royal Kwantlen Park. On the final Friday of the month, the Ukrainian Cultural Centre serves perogies, cabbage rolls, and borscht to raise funds and share heritage.

Animal lovers can join Paw Play in the Park on Sept. 27 at Latimer Off-Leash Park, a fun event for dogs and their humans with games, demos, and giveaways.

Laughter and Giving Go Hand in Hand

Comedy fans have plenty to smile about. Steve-O brings Crash and Burn on Oct. 10, while Indian comedian Biswa Kalyan Rath performs Oct. 24 at Bell Performing Arts Centre. Weekend comedy shows continue at Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Club.

Community fundraising blends fun and philanthropy this fall. The Anchors Away Gala on Oct. 4 supports Peace Arch Hospice Society, while High Fashion & High Tea on Oct. 5 benefits Options Community Services. On Nov. 8, the Autism Support Network Society hosts its South Asian Gala to support awareness and inclusion.

Arts, Culture, and Heritage for All

Surrey’s galleries, museums, and cultural programs highlight local creativity and heritage. Exhibits like 20 Years of South Asian Arts and Justen LeRoy’s Lay Me Down in Praise are ongoing at Surrey Art Gallery, while Surrey UrbanScreen offers free outdoor digital art until Oct. 25.

Culture Days Open House on Sept. 26 and the White Rock & South Surrey Culture Crawl on Oct. 4-5 invite residents to explore arts, music, and heritage at multiple venues. For a spooky twist, Historic Stewart Farm hosts paranormal events on Oct. 11 and 25.

Youth, Learning, and Hands-On Fun

Surrey provides engaging opportunities for youth and adults alike. Band-Aid workshops on Oct. 18 help young musicians hone their craft. Teens can share ideas at the Youth Speak Up Forum on Oct. 24, and local heroes will be celebrated at the SASSY Awards. Adults seeking skills and literacy support can turn to READ Surrey/White Rock Society or NEVR workshops.

Outdoors, Nature, and Wellness

Nature enthusiasts can enjoy National Tree Day on Sept. 27 at Bolivar Park, World Rivers Day on Sept. 28, and community tree-planting events throughout Surrey. Support groups, including Recovery Canada and the Surrey Prostate Cancer Support Group, offer wellness and guidance for those in need.

Sports, Nightlife, and Volunteering

Catch a hockey game with the Surrey Eagles or Surrey Knights, enjoy live music at The Barn, Donegal’s Irish House, or Mojitos, and consider giving back through volunteer programs at Surrey Memorial Hospital, Bell Performing Arts Centre, and local literacy and arts organizations.

Surrey’s calendar this fall is packed with events that bring people together—through music, theatre, food, arts, and community engagement—making it a city full of life, creativity, and connection.
