Cloverdale Ice Complex Skates Into Action

Cloverdale’s new Sport and Ice Complex is officially open with two rinks buzzing with hockey and figure skating. A third sheet is already planned for 2027.

Cloverdale’s new Sport and Ice Complex is now open with two rinks, fresh amenities, and plans for a third sheet by 2027.

A Cool New Addition to Cloverdale

The wait is finally over—Cloverdale has its very own Sport and Ice Complex, and the energy inside is electric. Nestled on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds, the sleek new facility has quickly become the place where young hockey players and figure skaters are zipping across the ice.

While the city quietly opened the complex for testing back in August, the rinks are now fully alive with activity. From the sound of skates carving into fresh ice to the buzz of families filling the stands, it’s clear the community has embraced its newest sports hub.

What’s Open Now

The complex currently features two sparkling rinks, with a third already on the way. Outside, visitors can now access Will Senger Way—a freshly opened stretch of 177B Street between 62nd and 64th Avenues—complete with a new traffic light and improved entrances.

Safety hasn’t been overlooked either. A help pole in the parking lot offers instant access to emergency services at the push of a button, ensuring peace of mind for visitors.

The City’s Testing Period Is Over

According to Surrey’s Parks and Recreation GM Laurie Cavan, the “soft-open” in August was all about making sure every detail was ready for the public. “As we usually do with a large new facility, we start slowly using it so that we can test all elements,” she explained to council earlier this summer.

Now, with that test phase behind them, the complex is officially humming with energy. Mayor Brenda Locke summed up the community’s excitement best, calling the project “great for Cloverdale.”

Looking Ahead: A Third Ice Sheet

The $132.8 million project is far from complete. A third ice sheet is scheduled to break ground in October, with construction expected to wrap up by early 2027. Once finished, the Cloverdale Sport and Ice Complex will stand as one of the largest skating facilities in the region—cementing Cloverdale’s reputation as a sports hub.

Takeaway: With two rinks already open and a third on the way, the Cloverdale Sport and Ice Complex is set to become the heart of the community’s ice sports scene for years to come.
