Delta leaders chart growth at Economic Breakfast
Delta’s business and community leaders gathered this week for the annual Economic Breakfast, where bold ideas and future strategies took centre stage.
A sold-out conversation on growth
Hosted by the Delta Chamber of Commerce with support from the City of Delta, the Sept. 16 event filled Cascades Casino with developers, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers. The sold-out gathering underscored how collaboration fuels economic resilience and long-term prosperity.
Mayor outlines economic vision
Mayor George Harvie delivered a State of the City address highlighting priorities such as business district revitalization, recreation expansion, and housing growth. He emphasized that strong partnerships with the business sector remain vital for attracting investment and creating jobs.
“Events like this allow us to share progress, exchange ideas, and highlight the projects shaping Delta’s economic success,” Harvie said.
Industry experts share insights
The breakfast also featured presentations from leaders across real estate, industrial development, and clean energy. Economist Amit Sidhu discussed housing trends, while Beedie Industrial executive Jason Tonin outlined new employment spaces. Mangrove Lithium CEO Dr. Saad Dara spoke on Delta’s role in clean energy innovation.
Panel sparks collaboration
Following the presentations, Harvie joined Sidhu, Tonin, and Dara for a panel discussion moderated by Delta Chamber executive director Richard Wischnewski. The conversation focused on addressing challenges while seizing opportunities for sustainable economic development.
“Events like this are where vision meets action,” Wischnewski said. “By uniting leaders from business, government, and community, we ensure Delta’s economic future is built together.”
