Meet firefighters, tour trucks, and explore careers as all 18 Surrey fire halls welcome the public on Sept. 20 for demos and hands-on fun.

Step Inside Surrey’s Fire Halls This September

Curious about what goes on behind the big red doors of your local fire hall? On Saturday, September 20, Surrey Fire Services (SFS) is giving you a rare chance to find out. From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., every one of the city’s 18 fire halls will swing open its doors for a community open house—and you’re invited.

Hands-On Fun for All Ages

This isn’t your average open house. Visitors can:

  • Climb aboard a real fire truck
  • Watch live equipment demos
  • Try out basic firefighting skills
  • Chat with firefighters about their day-to-day work
  • Learn about career opportunities in fire services

Whether you’re a parent with curious kids or someone considering a future in firefighting, there’s something here for everyone.

What You Should Know Before You Go

Each fire hall will remain fully operational during the open house. That means firefighters could be called out at any moment, giving you a glimpse into the unpredictable nature of the job.

A few tips:

  • Check addresses: Find the full list of fire hall locations at surrey.ca.
  • Plan ahead: Parking is limited.
  • Dress smart: The event is outdoors, so come prepared for the weather.

Why Surrey Fire Services Matters

Surrey Fire Services is much more than flashing lights and sirens. Crews are first on scene at house fires, traffic collisions, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, and even complex technical rescues. Opening their doors gives the public a front-row seat to see the critical role they play in keeping Surrey safe.

A Community Experience You Won’t Want to Miss

Mark your calendar, bring your questions, and don’t forget your sense of adventure. This is a one-day opportunity to connect with Surrey’s frontline heroes and get an inside look at the life of a firefighter.
