Art’s Nursery institutes paid admission for its annual Scarecrow Stroll on weekends & holidays starting Sept. 20. Families urged to buy tickets early.
Port Kells event introduces paid access for featured areas
Starting September 20, Art’s Nursery in Port Kells will for the first time charge admission on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and statutory holidays for access to its Scarecrow Stroll pop-up pumpkin patch and premium scarecrow area. Mondays through Thursdays remain free (though donations are welcome). Children under five enter free.
Purpose behind the change & cost details
The new fee is $7.83 (with tax) per person on the paid-admission days. Organizers say the cap is intended to partially cover costs associated with the more elaborate “premium” scarecrow exhibits and pumpkin patch installations, plus the live music, food trucks and other weekend enhancements.
Annual festival returns & schedule
The Scarecrow Stroll returns September 20 for its 11th year and runs through October 31 every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Located at 8940 192nd Street, Port Kells, British Columbia, it will operate weekends and holiday Mondays with full attractions; weekdays are more modest.
What visitors can expect
Visitors will find dozens of scarecrow installations sponsored by local businesses, a pumpkin patch, games, seasonal photo-ops, live music and food trucks. Schools will again take part via an “Upcycle Challenge” building scarecrows from recycled materials. A scavenger hunt will also roam the grounds, and kits will be available to make take-home scarecrows.
Charitable impact & community involvement
Proceeds from admissions and festival activities are earmarked for four local charities: Inclusion Langley Society; the Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society (OWL); Surrey Food Bank; and St. Vincent de Paul Society. OWL will host live educational “bird ambassador” demonstrations on selected days.
Guidance for planning & ticket purchase
Because ticket numbers for paid days are limited, Art’s strongly encourages online advance purchase to avoid disappointment. Non-paid days (Mon-Thu) allow visitors to explore the nursery and garden centre freely (or by donation), including many fall photo spots, the mini-pumpkin patch and courtyard walk.
