Art’s Scarecrow Stroll adds paid admission

Art’s Scarecrow Stroll returns Sept. 20 with paid weekend admission, pumpkin patch, scarecrow displays, food trucks, live music, and charity support.

Art’s Scarecrow Stroll adds paid admission for 2024

Art’s Scarecrow Stroll adds paid admission

For the first time, visitors will need to purchase tickets for weekend entry at Art’s Scarecrow Stroll, which introduces paid admission this fall.

Tickets required on weekends and holidays

Admission is now $7.83 per person on Fridays, weekends, and holidays, while children under five can enter free. A family of four will pay just over $31. Tickets give access to the premium scarecrow area and the pop-up pumpkin patch. Organizers recommend booking online early since spots are limited.

Free admission still available midweek

From Monday to Thursday, entry remains free by donation, allowing visitors to enjoy seasonal displays, photo opportunities, and the mini-pumpkin patch without a ticket. Other parts of the nursery and garden centre are open at no cost throughout the event.

Festival highlights and community spirit

Running from Sept. 20 through Oct. 31, the Scarecrow Stroll features themed scarecrows, live music, food trucks, games, and family-friendly activities. “We’re thrilled to welcome families back for another year of fall fun,” said Rebecca van der Zalm, Art’s owner. “This festival brings joy while raising vital funds for charities.”

Local businesses and charities benefit

Each scarecrow is sponsored by local businesses, with proceeds supporting charities including Inclusion Langley Society, the Surrey Food Bank, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society (OWL). OWL staff will also attend select weekends with educational talks and live demonstrations featuring rescued raptors.

Interactive activities and upcycling challenge

Visitors can take part in the Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt or explore creative designs made by local high schools in the Upcycle Challenge, where students build scarecrows entirely from recycled materials. Families can also purchase take-home kits to create their own scarecrows.

Hours and location

The Scarecrow Stroll runs daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Art’s Nursery, located at 8940 192nd Street in Port Kells. Food trucks and live entertainment are scheduled every weekend and holiday Monday until Oct. 31.
