Santino Marella to Headline Chilliwack Wrestling Event

Ex-WWE star Santino Marella debuts in Chilliwack on Sept. 13 at ASW’s The Cobra Strikes Back at Evergreen Hall. He teams with Marty Royale against the West Coast Heavies, marking his first B.C. match since 2011.

Wrestling Icon Comes to Town

Chilliwack wrestling fans are in for a treat this weekend as former WWE star Santino Marella makes his debut in the city. The Canadian-born wrestler is set to compete in All Star Wrestling’s (ASW) The Cobra Strikes Back event on Saturday, September 13, at Evergreen Hall.

Matchup on the Card

Marella will team with Marty Royale in a tag team clash against the West Coast Heavies duo of Matt Bronson and Todd Quality. The night’s lineup also features ASW heavyweight champion Shawn Murphy defending his title against Rook Kelly, along with several high-energy undercard matches.

Career in the Spotlight

Marella rose to fame during an 11-year run with WWE, beginning in 2007 when he shocked fans by winning the Intercontinental Championship in his debut match. He went on to claim the United States title, tag team gold with Vladimir Kozlov, and even captured the quirky “Miss WrestleMania” crown in 2009.

Signature Style and Fan Appeal

Known for blending comedy with athleticism, Marella built his reputation as one of wrestling’s most entertaining performers. His famed finishing move, The Cobra, became a fan-favourite spectacle — involving a cobra-themed sleeve and exaggerated strikes that often led to decisive victories.

Return After Retirement

Injuries led Marella to step away from the ring in 2016, though he continued making appearances on the independent circuit. He later joined TNA Wrestling, where he currently serves as director of authority on Impact, airing in Canada on Sportsnet 360. His last in-ring performance in B.C. dates back to 2011 in Victoria and Vancouver.

What’s Next for ASW

Saturday’s event is part of ASW’s busy fall schedule, with upcoming shows in Vancouver on September 20 and Surrey on November 29. The promotion recently entertained crowds at the Abbotsford Agrifair and will also stop at the Abbotsford Arts Centre on October 18. With Marella’s long-awaited return to B.C., ASW aims to deliver a memorable night for local fans.
