South Surrey PGA Tournament Tees Off at Morgan Creek

South Surrey hosts the Fortinet Cup PGA tournament at Morgan Creek, blending world-class golf with a strong community and charity focus.

Major Golf Event Comes to South Surrey

The stage is set for the 2025 South Surrey PGA tournament as Morgan Creek Golf Course prepares to welcome the Fortinet Cup Championship this September.

From Sept. 22–28, the course will host the largest event in its history, drawing as many as 2,000 spectators daily. This tournament marks the season finale of the PGA Tour Americas, with the top 10 finishers earning a coveted spot on the Korn Ferry Tour, one step below the PGA Tour.

Young Golfers Eye Career Breakthrough

Morgan Creek’s director of golf operations, Tom Doull, explained the tournament’s structure. “The PGA Tour is Level 1, Korn Ferry Level 2, and PGA Tour Americas Level 3. Only the top 120 players qualify for this championship,” he said.

Most competitors are in their mid-20s, many fresh out of college, already posting impressively low scores during tournaments across North America. For many, this is a defining chance to advance their careers.

Community Connection Through Charity

While the Fortinet Cup is a premier sporting event, it also carries a meaningful local connection. Morgan Creek staff have long supported Sources, a South Surrey–based charity, in memory of a beloved former employee who tirelessly raised funds for vulnerable women.

“We carried on her tradition,” Doull said. “Every time staff play a round, we each donate $5 to Sources.”

Funds raised during the event will support Sources’ Foundry project, a youth-focused walk-in centre offering free health and social services. Located on Semiahmoo First Nation land, it will be a vital resource for local youth.

Tickets and Event Details

Tickets are priced at $15, with $5 from each sale benefiting Sources and the Child Foundation. Children under 16 enjoy free admission.

The main competition begins Thursday, Sept. 25, running through Championship Sunday on Sept. 28. If weather cooperates and Canadian players make the leaderboard, organizers expect a lively turnout of up to 2,000 fans daily.

Tickets are available at fortinetcupchampionship.com.
