Tank vs Cars: Cloverdale Legion’s Wild Open House

A real tank will crush cars at Cloverdale Legion’s open house on Sept. 27. The event, part of National Legion Week, also features displays, music, and food.

Tank vs Cars

Witness a tank crush cars at Cloverdale Legion’s open house on Sept. 27. Enjoy military displays, live music, and food—all part of Legion Week.

A Tank Showdown You Don’t Want to Miss

Ever wondered who would win in a battle between a tank and a car? The answer will be loud, clear, and undeniably crushing on September 27 at the Cloverdale Legion, Branch No. 6. As part of its annual open house, the Legion is rolling out a real tank to flatten cars—turning curiosity into spectacle.

Celebrating National Legion Week

The event isn’t just about jaw-dropping action. It’s part of National Legion Week, running from September 21 to 27, a time dedicated to honoring veterans, supporting their families, and reminding the public of the Legion’s role in local communities. From educating people about Remembrance Day to recruiting new members, the week shines a light on the heart of the Royal Canadian Legion.

A Day Full of Action

The Cloverdale Legion open house runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., but the main event—the tank crushing—happens between noon and 4 p.m. And yes, there’s more than just tanks. Visitors can expect:

  • Military vehicles on display
  • A performance by a pipe band
  • Participation from local cadets
  • Food and drinks available, with donations encouraged

And for those who like a social atmosphere, the Legion bar will be open throughout the day.

Spreading the Word

Event organizer Will Hanks says one of the biggest challenges is getting the word out before the big day. “We always hear from people who say they missed it because they didn’t know,” he explained. That’s why this year, the team is encouraging the community to share the news far and wide.

More Than Just a Show

While the sight of a tank rolling over cars may grab attention, the purpose runs deeper. The Cloverdale Legion hopes the spectacle draws people in so they can learn more about its mission: supporting veterans, serving the community, and keeping remembrance alive.

So mark your calendar, spread the word, and get ready for an unforgettable day—because when a tank goes head-to-head with cars, the result is pure entertainment with a powerful cause behind it.
