Community Embraced by New Kids Run Excitement

When & Where It Will Happen

RunSurreyRun will take place this Sunday, September 7, 2025, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Holland Park in Surrey, BC. Participants can choose from a 5 km or 10 km walk/run, and for the first time, a 1 km Kids Run will be offered around park walkways.

Event Features That Engage Every Age

What’s New and What’s Returning

This year’s highlights include:

  • The inaugural 1 km Kids Run, open to children up to 10 years old, with parents welcome to run alongside.
  • A Health & Recovery Zone featuring post-race massages, hydration (courtesy of Blonyx), stretching mats, healthy snacks, and seating
  • A Family Fun Zone with music, games, bouncy castles, and more, creating a festive atmosphere.
  • A virtual race option, available between September 4–14, allowing participants to run from anywhere and still receive medals and race-day goodies.

Route Through Surrey’s Heart

Where Participants Will Run

Races start at 134th Street, weaving through Surrey City Centre along 132nd Street and University Drive, then finishing at Holland Park. The 5 km is one loop; the 10 km covers two loops.

Africa’s Diverse Community Takes the Lead

Who’s Behind the Event & Its Significance

Founded and directed by Gurjinder Bhurji, RunSurreyRun is entering its fifth annual in-person edition in 2025. The inclusive event draws runners and walkers of all ages and abilities, celebrating Surrey’s multicultural vibrancy, with over 100 languages spoken in the city.  Sponsors such as RBC and the City of Surrey help support the event’s growth.

Strength Through Movement and Connection

Why the Race Matters

RunSurreyRun transcends sport, fostering community, wellness, and unity. It emphasizes fun over competition, appealing to seasoned athletes, families, seniors, and newcomers alike. Through physical activity, the event supports health goals, stress relief, and — importantly — social connection across Surrey’s diverse neighborhoods.
