White Rock Shooting Tied to Extortion, RCMP Confirm

RCMP say a shooting at a White Rock home on Pacific Avenue early Wednesday morning was linked to extortion. Neighbours reported hearing rapid gunfire around 3:20 a.m., and officers later found bullet holes in the garage door. No one was injured. Police believe the incident was targeted and are asking residents with dashcam or security footage from the area to come forward. The case is being investigated alongside other extortion-related shootings across the Lower Mainland.

White Rock Shooting Tied to Extortion, RCMP Confirm

RCMP says no one was injured in the early-morning shooting on Pacific Avenue in White Rock—police believe it’s linked to extortion and seek witnesses.

Early-Morning Incident Unsettles White Rock Community

In the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday, August 27, a White Rock residence on Pacific Avenue came under gunfire. Neighbors reported hearing sustained bursts, described by one witness as sounding like “machine gun fire,” around 3:20 a.m.

Targeted Attack, No Casualties Reported

Upon arrival, White Rock RCMP discovered bullet damage on the garage door of a home in the 15500-block of Pacific Avenue. No injuries were reported in the incident, which police believe was directed at the residence.

Investigation Points to Extortion Motive

Authorities are treating the event as a targeted shooting tied to extortion. Through neighborhood canvassing, investigators determined the incident occurred between 3:15 a.m. and 3:30 a.m., and found evidence consistent with a firearm discharge.

Collaborative Forensics and Community Outreach

The Lower Mainland Integrated Forensic Identification Services team was called in to examine the scene. Police are currently canvassing local residents and collecting footage from area surveillance systems. Witnesses with dashcam or security video between 3:15–3:30 a.m. may be key to the investigation.

Broader Law Enforcement Coordination

White Rock RCMP is working closely with the Lower Mainland Joint Force Operation and the RCMP National Coordination and Support Team to ascertain whether this shooting is connected to other extortion-related cases.

Pattern of Extortion-Linked Shootings in Region

This incident is not isolated. In December 2023, RCMP linked a White Rock shooting to extortion threats targeting businesses across the Lower Mainland. More recently, shootings at a Surrey business on August 25 and at Kap’s Café in Newton—owned by Bollywood star Kapil Sharma—have also been tied to extortion-related violence.

Call for Public Assistance

Police urge anyone with information or video evidence of the Pacific Avenue incident to contact White Rock RCMP at (778) 545-4800. Civilian cooperation remains vital in advancing the investigation.
