South Surrey Man Jailed 43 Days for Probation Breach

Ricki Randall Taysup has been sentenced to 43 days after breaching probation tied to multiple incidents in Surrey and North Vancouver last month. The court credited him for 38 days already served in custody.

Taysup’s probation stemmed from a 2024 Ocean Park case, where he was accused of chasing and threatening a woman. That threats charge was later stayed in March 2025, but probation conditions remain in place.

Man Sentenced for Breaching Probation in Surrey

A South Surrey man who once faced accusations of chasing and threatening a woman in Ocean Park has been sentenced to 43 days behind bars after breaching his probation.

On Monday, August 25, 2025, Ricki Randall Taysup admitted in court to violating the conditions of his release. The decision came after he served 38 days in custody, which the court credited as 57 days—enough to cover his sentence.

Multiple Incidents Across the Lower Mainland

The probation breaches were linked to three separate incidents last month: July 9 and July 18 in Surrey, and July 13 in North Vancouver. While the Crown dropped the July 9 charge, the other two breaches stood. A “stay of proceedings” means the Crown may revisit the case within a year if it chooses.

At the time, Taysup was under strict probation conditions, including a ban from South Surrey. Court documents outlined the restricted area as stretching from King George Boulevard to Marine Drive and east to 152 Street.

Charges Stemming From 2024 Ocean Park Case

Taysup’s legal troubles date back to July 2024, when police said a woman reported being chased and threatened by him in Ocean Park. He was charged soon after, with a trial originally set for October 2024. That hearing, however, was pushed back, and Taysup stayed in custody.

Earlier this year, on March 10, 2025, prosecutors stayed the charge of uttering threats. That move effectively ended the Ocean Park case, unless the Crown decides to revive it within the allowed legal window.

What Happens Next?

With his most recent sentence now served, Taysup remains bound by probation rules from earlier convictions. Any future violations could bring him back before a judge quickly.
