A Sky-High Welcome in Revelstoke

Revelstoke Mountain Resort has unveiled its latest attraction, and it’s already turning heads. The Highline viewing deck and suspension bridge officially opened on Friday, Aug. 22, and locals are being treated to free admission for the first month. With its sweeping views and easy access, the new feature could soon become one of the biggest draws on Mount Mackenzie.

Views That Steal the Show

Perched 1,250 metres above the Arrow Lakes valley, the Highline gives visitors an unmatched panorama of the Columbia River and Monashee Mountains. To get there, guests ride the Revelation Gondola and stroll along a short wooded trail. At the end, a steel platform juts dramatically from the mountainside, while a 75-metre suspension bridge stretches between rocky cliffs.

More Than Just a Lookout

RMR’s communications manager, Laura Meggs, says the attraction is just getting started. Plans are in motion to add a professional photo booth and fresh landscaping to enhance the forest trail leading up to the Highline. “It’s one of the best views in town,” Meggs shared during a special preview event.

From Dream to Reality

According to Peter Nielsen, vice-president of operations, the project has been in the works for years. The spot, once a simple lookout with a railing, has been transformed after two years of construction. Originally dubbed the “cliff walk,” the name “Highline” was chosen to capture its soaring perspective.

“You’re at such a height it feels like you’re floating above the valley floor,” Nielsen explained. He added that while it isn’t designed for wheelchairs or bicycles, the attraction is “99 per cent accessible” and offers a genuine alpine experience for visitors of all ages.

A Local Celebration

Revelstoke residents get the best deal: free entry through Sept. 29 with proof of address. To mark the grand opening, RMR is hosting a locals’ day celebration on Saturday, Aug. 30, complete with a barbecue and refreshments at the gondola’s summit.

The Highline is also included with RMR’s gondola tickets, Sightseeing & Hiking Lift Pass, and Adventure Pass, making it a must-visit for anyone eager to soak in the region’s mountain magic.
