Rosalyn Bird Brings Military Leadership to B.C. Politics

Rosalyn Bird, MLA for Prince George–Valemont since 2024, is the Opposition Critic for Citizens’ Services. A former Naval Logistics Officer, she served over 30 years in the Canadian Forces with deployments for NATO and Afghanistan. Prince George-Valemont MLA Rosalyn Bird, a veteran and Naval Logistics Officer, now serves as Opposition Critic for Citizens’ Services in B.C.

Veteran-Turned-MLA Represents Northern B.C.

Rosalyn Bird, elected in 2024 as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Prince George–Valemont, is making her mark in provincial politics. She currently serves as the Official Opposition Critic for Citizens’ Services, a role that places her at the forefront of key issues affecting British Columbians’ access to government programs.

Decades of Military Service

Bird’s path to politics is shaped by more than three decades in the Canadian Forces, where she built a career defined by discipline, leadership, and service. She enlisted in 1990 as a Boatswain before reclassifying as a Resource Management Clerk, later earning her commission as a Naval Logistics Officer in 2005.

Global Deployments and Operations

Her military career saw her deployed in support of NATO, as well as Canadian missions including Op Apollo and Op Altair during the Afghanistan conflict. Bird also contributed to Forward Logistics Support for Southeast Asia relations, underscoring her expertise in international operations and resource management.

Service Across Canada

Beyond overseas missions, Bird’s career took her to postings across the country—from coastal stations in British Columbia and Nova Scotia to the Canadian Forces Station Alert on Ellesmere Island, Nunavut, the northernmost inhabited place on Earth.

Why She Entered Politics

Bird’s transition from military service to public office reflects her ongoing commitment to service. By bringing her operational experience into the political sphere, she aims to strengthen accountability, efficiency, and accessibility in provincial governance.

Looking Ahead

As MLA, Bird is focused on ensuring citizens across B.C.—including rural and northern communities—have fair access to services. With a record of leadership under pressure and a deep understanding of logistics, she is poised to be a strong voice in the legislature.
