Delta Pride Society’s annual picnic lit up Ladner on Aug. 17 with live shows, vendors, kids’ fun and a powerful message of inclusion.
Colourful Celebration in Ladner
The Delta Pride Society hosted its annual Pride Picnic on Sunday, August 17, 2025, transforming Ladner’s Memorial Park into a vibrant festival of inclusion. Families, allies, and LGBTQ2S+ community members gathered under rainbow flags for a day of music, activities, and togetherness.
Building on Years of Growth
Launched in 2018, the picnic has expanded every year. From its grassroots beginnings, the event now attracts hundreds of attendees, showcasing Delta’s growing commitment to diversity and acceptance.
Entertainment and Activities for All
The day featured live performances, vendor stalls, and family-friendly activities such as face painting and games. Children, teens, and seniors alike joined in, reflecting the wide reach of the celebration. A massive Pride flag, unfurled from a Delta Fire & Emergency Services truck, stood as a striking symbol of support.
Voices of Inclusion
Delta Pride Society president Christa Horita Kadach highlighted the importance of safe community spaces. She noted the event’s role in creating opportunities for people of all ages to connect: “We want to celebrate everybody. The world is a difficult place and people need community.”
Art Project Amplifies Message
Alongside the picnic, the City of Delta’s “Show Your Pride” community art banner—featuring hundreds of personal messages of belonging—was displayed across civic buildings. Its unveiling at the picnic reinforced the day’s theme of collective expression and unity.
Why It Matters
In a time of social division, Delta’s Pride Picnic underscores the importance of visibility and solidarity. By providing space to gather and celebrate, the event strengthens connections and affirms inclusivity in the heart of the community.
