Surrey Playschool Opens Inside Seniors Care Home

New Surrey Playschool Combines Kids and Seniors

A Surrey playschool is breaking new ground by integrating children and seniors under one roof, creating a vibrant inter-generational care environment. Tiny Scholars Playschool opened July 2 inside Amenida Seniors Community, a Newton-based facility celebrating Korean culture and cuisine. The innovative model aims to foster meaningful daily interactions between children, grandparents, and families.

A Nurturing Space for Children and Seniors

The Surrey facility can accommodate up to 41 children in intentionally designed spaces promoting multicultural and multilingual inclusivity. “Tiny Scholars is a beautiful model of inter-generational care, where children thrive, seniors find renewed purpose, and families reconnect,” says Dr. Peter Chung, company chairman.

Building Bonds Across Generations

One unique feature allows parents to greet resident grandparents while dropping off their children. Kids can naturally interact with seniors, including their own grandparents, nurturing connections through daily routines. The playschool encourages curiosity, respect, and social growth across all ages.

Expansion and Future Plans

Tiny Scholars already operates in Abbotsford and is expanding to Calgary and New Westminster. Following the Surrey launch, officials plan to grow the model to accommodate over 150 children by 2026, including culturally-tailored programs like Korean-language immersion classes. Open house tours are available on Aug. 17 and 24 via tinyscholars.ca.
