Incident Under Investigation in Newton
Surrey Police Service (SPS) is appealing to the public for assistance in an investigation into an alleged sexual assault in Newton. The incident reportedly occurred on August 5 at approximately 12:15 p.m. in the Scott Road Centre parking lot, where a Tim Hortons and Salvation Army Thrift Store are located.
Accused in Custody
Police have confirmed that 58-year-old Abdulkarim Ahmad Alhamid has been charged with sexual assault and remains in custody. Authorities say the alleged assault took place outside the Tim Hortons at 8080 120 Street and continued outside the nearby Salvation Army Thrift Store at 8066 120 Street. Both businesses share the same parking lot.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
The SPS Special Investigation Unit is leading the case and urging anyone who may have been in the area to come forward. Investigators are specifically seeking individuals who may have witnessed the incident, as well as those with CCTV or dashcam footage from the time.

Authorities are asking members of the public who were near the 8000-block of 120 Street at the time of the incident to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502, quoting file number 25-65774 (SP).
