Royal Canadian Theatre’s 2025-26 Season Awakens Laughter & Heart

The Royal Canadian Theatre Company will launch its 2025-26 season on September 26 at Surrey Arts Centre with the comedy They Came From Mars…, followed by the holiday pantomime The Little Mermaid in December, and the heartfelt spring production The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane in March. Performances will be staged in Surrey, New Westminster, and Coquitlam, with relaxed and ASL-interpreted shows to improve accessibility. Season tickets cost $79.50–$91.50, with group discounts available. A Valentine’s-themed studio show, Pizzazz, will run in February.

Royal Canadian Theatre’s 2025-26 Season Awakens Laughter & Heart

Royal Canadian Theatre’s 2025-26 season features comedy, holiday panto, and a touching spring story in Surrey, New Westminster, and Coquitlam.

Opening Night Set for September

The Royal Canadian Theatre Company will open its 2025-26 season on September 26 at Surrey Arts Centre. The first production is the comedy They Came From Mars And Landed Outside the Farndale Avenue Church Hall in Time for the Townswomen’s Guild’s Coffee Morning. The show follows a spirited community theatre troupe attempting an ambitious sci-fi play, with just five actors juggling eight roles under the guidance of a frantic stage manager.

Venues Across Three Cities

This year’s productions will tour to venues in Surrey, New Westminster, and Coquitlam. While the comedy and holiday panto will be staged in Surrey and New Westminster, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane will also make a stop at Coquitlam’s Evergreen Cultural Centre in March 2026.

Holiday Panto Promises Family Fun

From December 19 to early January, audiences can enjoy The Little Mermaid, a festive pantomime adapted by Crystal Weltzin. Featuring slapstick humour, catchy songs, and audience participation, the show is designed to entertain all ages.

Heartfelt Story Concludes the Season

In spring 2026, RCTC will present The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, adapted from Kate DiCamillo’s novel. The family-friendly play follows a porcelain rabbit’s 20-year journey from vanity to compassion, offering lessons in empathy and resilience.

Making Theatre Accessible to All

The company will host “relaxed performances” for select dates, designed to welcome patrons with intellectual, behavioural, hearing, and other accessibility needs. Some shows will include American Sign Language interpretation. An online 50/50 Accessibility Fundraiser, running until September 8, will help cover costs for ASL interpreters and Theatre Education Assistants.

Tickets and Group Discounts Available

Season tickets range from $79.50 to $91.50 and are available through box offices in Surrey and New Westminster, or at rctheatreco.com. Groups of 10 or more can attend for $28.25 per ticket. A special Valentine’s-themed studio production, Pizzazz, will also run in February, offering an intimate theatre experience outside the main season package.
