Surrey-White Rock MLA Trevor Halford, re-elected in 2024, remains a strong advocate for local issues as Opposition Critic for Environment and Parks.

Longtime Surrey Resident Upholds Local Representation

Trevor Halford, a lifelong South Surrey resident, continues to serve as MLA for Surrey-White Rock after securing re-election in 2024. First elected in 2020, Halford has been a consistent voice in the B.C. Legislature, now holding the position of Official Opposition Critic for Environment and Parks.

Legislative Role and Policy Focus

In his current role, Halford is responsible for scrutinizing environmental policies, park management, and conservation initiatives across the province. His position allows him to influence debates on sustainability and advocate for the preservation of natural spaces important to Surrey and beyond.

Experience in Diverse Portfolios

During his first term, Halford held multiple critic responsibilities, including Transportation and Infrastructure, ICBC and Affordability, BC Transit and TransLink, Sport, and Mental Health and Addictions. His broad experience has given him insight into issues ranging from public transit to community wellness.

Deep Roots in the Community

Raised in South Surrey, Halford’s connection to the region is personal as well as political. Alongside his wife, Holly, he is raising three young children in the same parks, fields, and hockey rinks he enjoyed growing up, fostering a generational link to the community’s recreational and public spaces.

Commitment to Local Priorities

Halford’s ongoing work emphasizes the importance of responsive representation, particularly in areas such as environmental stewardship, affordability, and accessible recreation. His dual perspective as both a public servant and community parent continues to shape his advocacy at the provincial level.
