Surrey MLA with a Record of Service

Elenore Sturko, MLA for Surrey-Cloverdale, has built her political career on a foundation of public service and community commitment. First elected in 2022 as MLA for Surrey South, she secured a second victory in 2024 representing Surrey-Cloverdale. Today, she serves as the Official Opposition Critic for Solicitor General and Public Safety in British Columbia’s legislature.

Career Rooted in Communication and Public Safety

Sturko’s career began in television broadcasting with CFJC Television in Kamloops, where she developed strong communication skills. In 2007, she shifted to public service by joining the Canadian Armed Forces as a reservist in the Royal Canadian Air Force, serving in Yellowknife and across the Northwest Territories.

A Decade in the RCMP

In 2009, Sturko joined the RCMP, starting in Langley before returning to Yellowknife in 2012. There, she worked as a frontline police officer and later as a community policing and media relations officer. In 2018, she returned to Surrey to serve both in media relations and frontline policing with the Surrey RCMP.

Representing Surrey’s Interests in the Legislature

As a legislator, Sturko focuses on public safety, policing, and community engagement. Her professional background in law enforcement and the military continues to inform her stance on policies affecting Surrey residents, particularly in matters of crime prevention and emergency response.

Commitment to Community and Family

Beyond her political duties, Sturko is a Surrey resident, living with her spouse, Melissa, and their three young children. Her lived experience as a parent, public servant, and community advocate shapes her work in the legislature, ensuring her policies remain grounded in the realities facing local families.
