Heads-Up, Drivers: Pattullo Bridge Night Closures Ahead

If your nightly commute takes you over the Pattullo Bridge into Surrey, heads up — things are about to slow down. TransLink has announced overnight southbound closures on the bridge for scheduled maintenance.

When and Where:
From August 5 to 7, the bridge will be closed southbound between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., affecting all vehicle traffic heading into Surrey.

What’s Happening on the Bridge?

TransLink crews will be conducting routine maintenance, and to do it safely, they’ll need to shut down southbound lanes. That means equipment will be in use across portions of the bridge, forcing full closures for southbound vehicles.

But don’t worry — the bridge won’t be completely off-limits. Pedestrians, cyclists, and emergency responders will still be able to cross without disruption.

What You Should Do Instead

To avoid delays, TransLink is urging drivers to take alternate routes, including:

  • Port Mann Bridge
  • Alex Fraser Bridge

Additionally, some N19 night bus trips will be rerouted. Riders traveling between New Westminster and Scott Road stations can expect detours over the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges.

Plan Ahead, Travel Smoothly

While overnight closures can be a hassle, they’re part of the necessary upkeep that keeps our infrastructure safe and strong. If you plan ahead, leave early, and take alternative routes, you’ll avoid most of the traffic headaches.

Stay tuned to TransLink alerts and road signage, and keep your drive as stress-free as possible.
