Four men face murder and confinement charges in the targeted killing of a 19-year-old Abbotsford man found with severe injuries in Surrey on Jan. 27.
Arrests Made in January Homicide of Abbotsford Teen
Four men have been charged with first-degree murder and forcible confinement in connection with the death of a 19-year-old Abbotsford man whose body was discovered in Surrey earlier this year. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) confirmed the charges Friday following a six-month cross-jurisdictional investigation.
Victim Found with Severe Injuries in Crescent Beach
The case began on January 27, when Abbotsford police responded to reports of a violent abduction on Victoria Street. Witnesses said the young man was assaulted and forced into a vehicle. Roughly three hours later, the victim was found with critical injuries in the Crescent Beach area of Surrey. He succumbed to those injuries in hospital on February 1.
Suspects Identified Across Three Provinces
Charged with first-degree murder and forcible confinement are Jaskaran Singh, 20, and Bipanpreet Singh, 22, both of Surrey; Ravdeep Gill, 21, of Winnipeg; and Harmandeep Gill, 26, of Brampton, Ontario. A fifth individual, Inderpreet Khosa, 19, of Abbotsford, is charged with forcible confinement. IHIT emphasized that the killing appears to be a “targeted incident” but is not believed to be linked to the ongoing B.C. gang conflict.
National Law Enforcement Cooperation Key to Charges
According to IHIT media spokesperson Const. Sukhi Dhesi, the investigation required coordination across multiple jurisdictions and agencies. These included the Abbotsford Police Department, Surrey Police Service, RCMP Provincial Operations Support Unit, Integrated Forensic Identification Service, BC Coroners Service, Winnipeg Police Service, and Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Unit.
Motive and Further Details Withheld Amid Ongoing Proceedings
Authorities have not released a motive for the killing. As court proceedings begin, investigators say they are focused on ensuring justice for the victim’s family while continuing to explore all leads related to the case. Further details remain under a publication ban.
Community Urged to Support Investigation
IHIT is asking anyone with additional information to come forward to aid the investigation. “The collaboration and support we received have been instrumental,” said Const. Dhesi. “We encourage the public to continue assisting law enforcement.”
