4 Men Charged in Targeted Murder of Abbotsford Teen in Surrey

Four men have been charged with first-degree murder and forcible confinement in the death of a 19-year-old Abbotsford man, who was found with severe injuries in Surrey on January 27 and later died in hospital.

Charged are Jaskaran Singh (20) and Bipanpreet Singh (22) of Surrey, Ravdeep Gill (21) of Winnipeg, and Harmandeep Gill (26) of Brampton, Ont. A fifth person, Inderpreet Khosa (19) of Abbotsford, faces a charge of forcible confinement.

Police say the killing was targeted but not gang-related. The charges follow a six-month investigation involving multiple police agencies across B.C., Manitoba, and Ontario.

Ugly Potato Day Set to Feed Thousands in Cloverdale

Cloverdale, B.C. – Ugly Potato Day is back on August 9 at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds, aiming to distribute 500,000 pounds of free produce to over 30,000 people. Organized by farmer Ty Heppell and sponsored by Odd Bunch, the event promotes food security and fights food waste by giving away imperfect but edible fruits and vegetables. While a Guinness World Record attempt was dropped due to logistics, the mission to feed local families continues. Free admission, pre-registration encouraged. Crash Shuts Down 176th Street in Cloverdale for Hours

A serious crash on 176th Street north of Fraser Highway sent one driver to hospital and closed the northbound lane for several hours on the evening of July 31. The vehicle veered off the road and landed in a water-filled ditch around 9 p.m. Surrey Fire’s Technical Rescue Team extricated the driver, who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency crews cleared the scene later that night. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
