Delta Man Gets 38 Months for 2021 Coquitlam Shooting

Sukhdeep Singh Pansal, 36, of Delta, B.C., has been sentenced to 38 months in prison after pleading guilty to firearms-related charges stemming from a 2021 shooting at a Coquitlam highrise. The incident occurred on January 16, 2021, in the 600-block of Whiting Way, where a woman sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Police, with the help of the Emergency Response Team, evacuated nearby residents and arrested Pansal after he barricaded himself inside a unit. He was also handed a lifetime firearms ban and ordered to submit a DNA sample.

A 50-year-old White Rock man was arrested late Friday night after driving with a blood-alcohol level more than four times the legal limit. RCMP responded around 11 p.m. on July 25 to a report of a swerving vehicle on North Bluff Road. Officers quickly located and arrested the driver, calling it an “extremely dangerous situation.” Thanks to the timely tip from a concerned citizen, no injuries occurred. The man has been released pending a November court date, and his licence has been suspended. White Rock RCMP are urging residents to report impaired drivers by calling 911.
