White Rock Driver Caught at 4x Legal Alcohol Limit

A 50-year-old White Rock man was arrested late Friday night after driving with a blood-alcohol level more than four times the legal limit. RCMP responded around 11 p.m. on July 25 to a report of a swerving vehicle on North Bluff Road. Officers quickly located and arrested the driver, calling it an “extremely dangerous situation.” Thanks to the timely tip from a concerned citizen, no injuries occurred. The man has been released pending a November court date, and his licence has been suspended. White Rock RCMP are urging residents to report impaired drivers by calling 911.

Late-Night Call Leads to Shocking DUI Arrest

A 50-year-old White Rock man is facing impaired driving charges after being caught behind the wheel with a blood-alcohol level more than four times the legal limit. The arrest followed a public tip that helped avert what RCMP described as a potentially catastrophic outcome.

Dangerous Driving Prompts Immediate Police Action

On Friday, July 25, at around 11 p.m., White Rock RCMP received a call about a vehicle “swerving all over the road” in the 14000-block of North Bluff Road. Officers responded swiftly and located the suspect vehicle within minutes. The driver was arrested at the scene for impaired driving.

Public’s Quick Thinking Credited for Averting Tragedy

“This was an extremely dangerous situation,” said Const. Chantal Sears in a statement. “It is a miracle this driver didn’t cause a serious collision.” Police emphasized that the tip from a concerned citizen played a critical role in preventing harm.

Alarming Blood Alcohol Levels Spark Concern

Testing revealed that the man’s blood-alcohol concentration exceeded the legal limit by more than four times. The suspect has since been released from custody, his driver’s licence suspended. He is expected to appear in court this November.

Ongoing Problem Despite Safe Ride Options

White Rock RCMP expressed concern that such incidents continue to occur despite the availability of taxis, rideshare services, and public transportation. “It is both disappointing and alarming that this criminal behaviour persists,” said Sears.

Authorities Urge Residents to Report Impaired Drivers

Police are urging the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911 immediately. “We continue to remove impaired drivers from our roads on a weekly basis,” RCMP said. They credit ongoing community vigilance as key to keeping local roads safe.
