Merlo Among Top Contenders at 2025 CCMA Awards

British Columbia’s rising country music sensation Madeline Merlo is poised for a career-defining night at the 2025 Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Awards, where she will both perform and contend for three major honours.

Event Scheduled for September in Kelowna

The awards show will take place on Saturday, September 13, at the culmination of Country Music Week in Kelowna, B.C. The celebration begins on Wednesday, September 10, offering fans four days of live music, industry events, and artist showcases across the city.

Recognizing Excellence in Canadian Country Music

Merlo, originally from Maple Ridge, B.C., has been nominated for Female Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year (presented by SOCAN), and Musical Collaboration of the Year for her hit with fellow artist Jade Eagleson. With a platinum-certified #1 single and previous CCMA wins to her name, Merlo is no stranger to the spotlight.

National Stage Performance Confirmed

On July 9, the CCMA revealed the first wave of artists set to perform, including Merlo. She will join a high-profile lineup that features Tyler Joe Miller, Sacha and Restless Road, Dallas Smith and Alexandra Kay, Thelma and James, and Cameron Whitcomb. The show will be hosted by comedian and actor Tom Green, bringing a fresh twist to the annual celebration.

New Award Category and Fan Voting Introduced

This year’s awards introduce a new Francophone Artist of the Year category, recognizing excellence among French-speaking acts. Fans will also play a direct role in the outcome by voting online for two categories: Breakthrough Artist or Group of the Year and the coveted Fans’ Choice Award. Voting is now open at ccma.org/fanvoting.

Celebrating Creativity and Connection

The CCMA Awards presented by TD aim to honour the best in Canadian country music, spotlighting collaboration and creativity within the community. Merlo’s multiple nominations and live performance underscore her growing influence in the genre and the continued rise of B.C.’s talent on the national stage.
