Canadian country artist Cameron Whitcomb abruptly cancelled his second sold-out show in Kelowna, B.C., just hours before the July 26 performance, citing unresolved technical problems at the venue, Revelry Food and Music Hub. The cancellation followed what he described as a “disastrous” first show the previous night.
Issues Cited at Revelry Venue
Whitcomb, originally from Nanaimo and known for his appearance on American Idol Season 20, posted to Instagram—before deleting the post—that the venue experienced major production and technical problems. According to his statement, problems began the morning of July 25 and persisted into his first performance.
“Unfortunately, The Revelry’s issues were too great and couldn’t be overcome,” he wrote. “Last night’s show was embarrassing, and I refuse to give my fans a product that doesn’t meet my standards.”
Refunds Offered, Return Promised
The July 26 show at Revelry was called off entirely, with Whitcomb instructing fans to seek refunds from their original point of purchase. He assured supporters that he would return to Kelowna under better conditions.
“I’m sorry to disappoint you… I sincerely apologize, and really hope the Revelry can fix this,” he added.
Fan Reactions Mixed but Sympathetic
While some expressed disappointment, many fans voiced support for Whitcomb online. A Reddit user who attended the first show described frequent mic issues and praised Whitcomb’s professionalism despite the glitches. “I can’t blame him for cancelling today’s show,” the post read, calling for his return—just at a different venue.
Venue Responds, Calls Incident ‘Heartbreaking’
In a statement to Capital News, Revelry spokesperson Lee Simon said they were “heartbroken” over the cancellation. Simon confirmed that a third-party audio-visual contractor experienced technical difficulties early in the first show, but claimed the problems were resolved during the performance.
“Several options were presented before Saturday’s planned show to demonstrate that all issues were resolved. Unfortunately, those options were denied by the artist,” Simon noted.
Despite the setback, Revelry emphasized its commitment to supporting live performers, even when that includes accepting cancellations.
