Who Is Harjeet Singh Laddi? Kap’s Café Shooter Exposed

Khalistani terrorist Harjeet Singh Laddi claims firing at Kapil Sharma’s Surrey café. Here’s what we know about the wanted extremist.

Khalistani terrorist Harjeet Singh Laddi claims firing at Kapil Sharma’s Surrey café. Here’s what we know about the wanted extremist.

Harjeet Singh Laddi: The Khalistani Terrorist Behind Kap’s Café Firing

Khalistani terrorist Harjeet Singh Laddi has claimed responsibility for the shocking July 9th shooting outside Kapil Sharma’s café in Surrey, British Columbia. No injuries occurred, but the attack triggered alarm across the Indo-Canadian community and brought renewed focus on Laddi’s violent past and extremist ties.

Who Is Harjeet Singh Laddi?

Laddi is a Canada-based operative linked with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), one of the oldest Khalistan terrorist organizations. Long under watch, Laddi is on India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) most-wanted list, with a ₹10 lakh reward announced for information leading to his arrest.

Authorities have also named him as the prime suspect in the June 2024 assassination of VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar in Punjab. The NIA uncovered a broader terror conspiracy involving Laddi and several others after that murder.

Why Target Kapil Sharma’s Café?

Sources say the firing stems from a controversial segment aired on The Kapil Sharma Show, where a character allegedly mocked the traditional attire and behavior of Nihang Singhs — Sikh warriors with deep spiritual roots.

A group sympathetic to Laddi released a statement calling it “a mockery of Sikh spiritual traditions,” demanding a public apology from Sharma after failed attempts to contact his management. The group viewed the skit as offensive to Sikh values and issued threats after being ignored.

What Happened at the Scene?

Around 1:50 AM on July 10, Surrey Police responded to a shots-fired call at a business in the 8400 block of 120 Street. Nearly 12 bullets struck Kap’s Café’s windows while staff were still inside.

No suspects have been identified yet, but officers gathered forensic evidence, reviewed surveillance footage, and canvassed the area for witnesses. Police confirmed there was no immediate threat to the public, though investigations remain active.

A Wake-Up Call for Authorities

This incident has underscored concerns over transnational extremism and the increasing use of foreign soil by extremist elements to carry out symbolic acts. It also highlights the growing challenges faced by Canadian law enforcement in dealing with ideologically motivated crimes.
