26-Year-Old Dies After Surrey Canada Day Crash

A 26-year-old man has died after suffering critical injuries in a July 1 two-vehicle crash at 120 St and 97 Ave in Surrey. Police continue to investigate.

Crash Reported on Canada Day in Surrey

A serious collision involving two vehicles occurred at approximately 4 p.m. on July 1 at the intersection of 120 Street and 97 Avenue in Surrey, British Columbia. The incident prompted a swift emergency response from Surrey Police Service (SPS), Surrey Fire Service, and BC Emergency Health Services.

Emergency Services Responded Promptly

Emergency responders transported three individuals to hospital. One man was in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, while two others sustained only minor injuries. The less severely injured individuals were released the same day.

Young Victim Succumbs to Injuries

On Monday, July 8, SPS confirmed that the critically injured individual—a 26-year-old man—had succumbed to his injuries in hospital. His identity has not been released publicly. The death marks a tragic outcome to what began as a routine traffic incident on Canada Day.

Police Investigation Ongoing

Surrey Police say the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Officers are seeking witnesses and dashcam footage from the area during the time of the incident to aid in their inquiry. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact SPS at 604-599-0502 and reference file number 25-54337 (SP).

Community Urged to Assist
